Fixed wire testing across Essex
Essex is one of the busiest commercial counties in the country. The south of the county along the A13 and A127 is dominated by logistics and distribution around Thurrock, Basildon and Harlow, with London Gateway and Tilbury among the largest port operations in the UK. Chelmsford and Colchester provide the main office, retail and public sector bases, Stansted Airport and its surrounding business parks sit in the north west, and Southend, Clacton and the coast add hospitality and leisure. We work extensively across all of these areas and attend as soon as possible, at a time that suits each site. Chelmsford and Colchester have their own pages; this page covers the county as a whole.

Sites and sectors we test across Essex
Warehousing and distribution make up a large part of our Essex work, with big floor plates, many distribution boards and yard installations that need phased testing so loading continues. We also inspect offices and business parks along the A12 and M11 corridors, retail parks at Lakeside and along the A127, schools and academies across the county, care homes, industrial estates in Basildon, Harlow, Witham and Braintree, and the airport related premises around Stansted.

About fixed wire testing and EICRs
Fixed wire testing, formally an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), is the periodic inspection and testing of a building's permanent wiring, distribution boards, protective devices, earthing and bonding. It is how duty holders demonstrate that an installation is being maintained safely under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, and most insurers, landlords and accreditation schemes expect to see a current report. Observations are coded C1, C2, C3 or FI so that anything dangerous is dealt with first. For a full explanation of what the inspection involves, how often different buildings should be tested and what the codes mean, see our main Fixed Wire Testing service page.
